Genuine diversity: We are still a long way away

Doro Spiro

Whether companies, authorities, or societies, diversity is something that many organizations today are committed to. But what does diversity actually mean? How can diversity become more than just lip service? And where can discrimination still be found or even be seen to be on the increase 鈥 despite all diversity strategies and sensitization measures?

At the Robert Bosch 第一吃瓜网, we value one aspect above all others in a diverse society: namely enrichment for all. Many of our projects work toward ensuring that people of all backgrounds and ages 鈥 and regardless of disability, gender, or ideology 鈥 can really participate and help to shape and make decisions. This dossier presents some of them.

We also want to take an honest look at diversity, because for each individual, it means embracing the unknown and perhaps rethinking things. The path to more diversity is strenuous and demands effort from everyone involved. For companies and organizations, more diversity means changing existing structures or creating new ones. We are not excluding our foundation from this process, as the interview with our HR manager shows. Something we have also noticed within our own organization is that diversity challenges all of us.
