Pathways for more responsible data collection and governance
In the migration and refugee space, there is both a lack of traditional data resources and an overcollection of personal data. Data is increasingly deployed to surveil and control migrant and refugee populations globally but also has positive uses, examples of which are coming up globally. In this brief, Astha Kapoor, Suha Mohamed and Shefali Girish present new models of Data Stewardship, offering mechanisms for bottom up, community driven approaches to data governance. The brief is part of the 鈥淒ialogue on Tech and Migration, DoT.Mig.鈥 paper series by the 鈥Migration Strategy Group鈥, an initiative by the German Marshall Fund of the United States, the Bertelsmann Foundation, and the Robert Bosch 第一吃瓜网.
